The Faculty of Ground Structures and Airfields is involved in solving the problems of bringing the terminology in the field of construction to the modern requirements of Ukrainian spelling

On June 26, 2024, representatives of the Department of Aviation Transport Infrastructure (IAT) of the Faculty of Ground Structures and Airfields (FNSA) - associate professor Galina Ageeva and master's student Oleg Bort - took part in the work of the round table "Terminology in the field of construction in the context of the new Ukrainian spelling", organized by the State Enterprise " National Institute of Infrastructure Development".

More than 150 participants of the round table are representatives of the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Technical Committee (TK 19) "Scientific and Technical Terminology", industry research and project research institutes, institutions of higher education etc. organizations and enterprises - discussed the problematic issues of bringing the terminology in the field of construction to the modern requirements of Ukrainian spelling (2019 edition) during the development of projects of state building regulations and national standards, in particular in the field of highways.

In May 2024, the five-year transitional period ended, which provided for the gradual implementation of the requirements of the new Ukrainian spelling, during which both old and new norms were in force, including for the legal framework in the field of construction.

The liveliest discussion revolved around the processes of reconciliation of differences and unity of the terminology of current, new, revised building codes and national standards, as well as changes to them in the non-transitional period.

Ways to solve these problems at the state and industry levels were proposed and discussed.

Bringing the terminology to the requirements of the new Ukrainian orthography also requires the efforts of educational and pedagogical staff of the FSSA to update educational and professional programs, educational, methodical and special literature; training of higher education seekers in the renewed terminological space of specialties 191 "Architecture and urban planning", 192 "Construction and civil engineering", 193 "Geodesy and land management".
